The Family Chef

Laura entered the Rib Cookoff in her neighborhood on Memorial Day. She didn't win but we say the judging was political. The judges were all the other neighbors and guess what, people vote for their friends and not only that but a Professional Chef in the neighborhood won. Now, just how fair is that!! So we as Laura's family and friends, vote her Rib's to be #1. Look at them, they have to be. We have requested a recook on these the next time we go to Georgia. She did win 2nd place in the Chile Cookoff last year. So she does have that winners ability. An interesting thing is that when she and Greg married 10 years ago, Laura didn't even know what those little knobs were for on the stove, (well, maybe that is a stretch) but her passion was to be a good cook. She has braved many recipes I would have set aside. After reading many cookbooks, watching many cooking shows and calling me for her cooking questions she is now an accomplished cook. Laura, we are proud of you and know you are right up there with Rachel Ray. Go for #1 next year.

Comment from Lindsay

Lindsay just sent me a nice comment by email so I will just post it. It is so sweet. Thanks, Lindsay

Grandma! You are so talented, I don't think even I could figure out how to do all that. It's soooo cool, I love it and you did an awesome job! Love, Lindsay

Grandaughter's

These two have always been our princess's. Lindsay is still a princes but has graduated from Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Ballerina Barbie to a nice young lady. Chloe is still our little princess but is now mostly the Ballerina Barbie. Lindsay is 20 and just finished her second year of college at NTU and is trying to decide which college she will go to for her last two years. Today she and Tammy go to OU to tour their campus. She is majoring in Marketing and Business. Lindsay, at the end of last semester, had a 3.8 grade point average, so needless to say we are all very proud of her. She is still waiting on this semester's average. She works at a Music Studio as their receptionist. Chloe is 7 and she has had a very good year in First Grade. She is reading at the end of Third Grade level. She completed her entire 500 sight word list and was one of only four in her class to achieve this. She has been on the A Honor Roll all year. Girl's you are still our # 1 Princess's. Keep up the good work.

Our Weekend

This is about as exciting as it gets some weeks around here. But I am not complaining. We enjoy life at our house. Friday afternoon Tommy planted this planter for the front porch and the finished product turned out beautiful as you can see. The third picture is of some potted plants we have in back by the deck. We are leaving soon to go to a Graduation Picnic for 2 of our local graduates, Sara L. and Cory S. Hats off to them.

Grandson's

Here are our Grandboy's doing what they enjoy. Cameron decided to take up golf so last week he got his Dad's golf clubs and went to the golf course and signed up for a couple of golf lessons. On the second lesson, his instructor looked at Tammy and said, "This is his second lesson?" "Yes" "Well he is good and I'm not sure what he needs me for." This is not the first time Cameron has heard this. He decided to sign up for the Lacrosse team, and told the coach he had never played. In his second practice game, the coach said, "Are you sure you have never played before?" This kid was practically born either bouncing a ball or throwing a ball so it all comes natural for him. He has been a star player for Hockey, Ice Hockey and Football also. Cameron is about to finish up the 9th grade and has been on the honor roll through out his 9 years of school.
Garrett is a car fan. He has the video "Car's" and this is usually a daily watch. The blue car he has in the picture is Lightening McQueen, his favorite. The other is a "Car's" lunchbox that we gave him and it never gets to far from him. It houses many of his little match box type cars. He also has a battery operated car that he can drive (see post #1) and it's name is Rino. Every time we talk to him and we ask what he has been doing, the answer is, "playing car's" or "riding on the Rino." Nascar fans watch out, here comes Garrett. Garrett is not in school yet, but Grandma is sure that he will be just as smart as Cameron.
We love you guys.

A Fun Day

Well, I was stuck in this blog and had gotten myself in a place I couldn't get out. So what do you do but call for help from someone who has already been bogged in a blog. Renita got the call and came over this morning and got me up and going again. We then went for lunch at McAlister's Deli. When I got home Tommy was here and wanted to go to the Arboretum. It was much to nice a day to spend inside working. Did lots of bench setting, just enjoying the scenery along with bird and squirrel watching. Then on to the CheeseCake Factory for dinner.

An interesting learning experience for a Grandma!!!

I have enjoyed reading others blogs and especially seeing the pictures of the children and being able to enter into their growing experiences. Now we will see if I have the ability to enter the world of blogging. Nothing will keep us younger than to try and keep up with the younger generation. So welcome to our world where Grandchildren are a big part of our life.
