Brag Day for Chloe

Well, one of our grandkids did it again and gave me something to blog about. Chloe, called with the message that she got put in the accelerated reading class. She loves to read so that was no surprise. Three cheers for you Chloe. Happy reading.

Greg and Tommy got our families on Skype. You may be familiar with it. It is a program where we talk to each other thru the computer and we each have a camera mounted on the computer so we can see each other. It is just like being there with them, except when Garrett wants some of my Frito's I'm eating. It is fun to see Garrett and Chloe and hear the things they are doing. Garrett gives us a Show and Tell. He loves to show us his toys, mostly cars. Chloe likes to tell us about school and things she does. It is great for grandparents that are not near their grandkids. Come on over and we will give you a demonstration. We would be glad to share our grandkids with you. They are very cute, of course.

British Greg

Well, I said I would not be writing to many Posts this month but it seems like my kids and grandkids keep giving me good things to write about. Greg was in England several days ago for a week and sent some pictures that I will share with you.

The other pilot and Greg was having fun with their camera's one night and this is one of the pictures they came up with. The moon and the British Flag in the background make a interesting picture. (Double click on picture to see the Flags)

Notice the rainbow in the background of his plane.

Greg with the plane he flies overseas. A G5, that doesn't mean much to me but maybe it does to you.

This is the crew. One security personel, a mechanic, and 2 pilot's. Greg is on the right.

Greg standing in front of Stonehinge.

We will be in convention for most of this week so am sure something else fun and interesting will happen to post when we get back and the laundry done!!

Cameron-People to People Ambasador

Last Thurs at Lindsay's Birthday Dinner, Cameron told us that he has been chosen by his school to be in the People to People Ambasador Program. I pulled the following information off the web to try and explain this organization. "Student Ambassadors represent their school, community, state, and country while traveling abroad. They learn about other cultures, experience unique activities, and meet local citizens. Student Ambassadors come in all shapes and sizes, but they share many common traits: a curious and adventurous spirit, an open mind and heart, the desire to learn about other cultures and people, and the belief in President Eisenhower’s vision that each person can make a difference and help to achieve peace through understanding." He has been chosen to travel to Italy, France, Austria and Switzerland for 19 days next summer. Since Brooke has already done this 2 summers ago, she can give him some pointers. We are very proud that Cameron was chosen for this honor. So we give him a big hand. (CLAP, CLAP) Now let the fundraising begin.

Happy Brithday, Lindsay

Lindsay's big smile is because she is now offically an adult, 21 years old this past Tues. She came home from school today and we celebrated tonight at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse where they cook your meal in front of you. It is quite intertaining to watch. The first thing they did was take a picture of her with her family and in the last picture you will see what they did with the picture. We are so proud of her as she is such a nice young lady and doing very well at OU. She loves it there and next year OU WILL BEAT texas. Happy Birthday Lindsay.

Cake with family picture printed on top.

Tomorrow is another milestone for Lindsay. After 1 1/2 years she gets her braces off. Her smile is so beautiful now I can't imagine it being any better.

Georgians in the Hills of Tennessee

Greg, Laura and the kids went to Dollywood in Tennessee last weekend. For those who are not familiar with Dollywood, it is an amusement park. They had a great time and Laura sent these pictures today. You can tell by the smiles that they are having fun.

We leave in the morning for Texarkana Convention and we are really looking forward to 4 days of leaving the cares and distractions of life behind to being in a place where we can see and hear the most important things of life. Then we get to go for the 4 days of Mt Peak, so posts may be few this month. Perhaps, we will get to see many of you in person and have face to face visits. How nice.

Two Past Week Highlight's

Sometime we all have days that we can claim they are the highlight of the week and we had two this week. The first one was on Wednesday when Greg flew into an airport nearby for a few hours and we could go and meet him and then go for a Mexican lunch. This is the plane that he gets to fly. Too bad it doesn't belong to him and we could all take advantage of the good life but we are glad for his company that needs a good pilot to fly one of their guy's to make a luncheon speech in our area.

For the second highlight there is no picture because I forgot to take my camera. It was Saturday work day at Mt. Peak Convention. Weather was great and lots of work got done, however, we never noticed that we were working because we were having such fun visiting and laughing the time away. It is so cute to watch all the little kids enjoying there time and trying to work just like all the grownups. Little girls with wet rags in their hands scrubbing everything in sight and beaming from ear to ear when they are told they are doing such a good job. It just brought back such wonderful memories of all my life having Convention Preps and Convention the highlight of not only my day and week but even the highlight of my year. I loved it then and I still love and look forward to these days after many years.

More Birthday's

Sophie, our little "adopted grandaughter" who comes to our meeting, turned three last Saturday and we took this picture of her on Sunday after meeting. She loves our ceramic puppy and so she requested to have her picture taken with it.

Tommy's sister, Eileen, came to Dallas a week ago to get away from Hurricane Ike. She was still here on her Birthday so we got to celebrate with her on Thursday night before Gary and Debbie took her back home on Friday. This is a great restaurant to celebrate your Birthday at because it doesn't matter what your age really is, you are always 21 at this place. Since it was an Italian place, perhaps that is an Italian tradition. Sounds like a great idea to me.

This is all who got to enjoy her "25th" with her. From the left to right is Gary, Debbie, Cheryl, Kyle holding Clara, Eileen, Lloyd, Tammy, Tommy and I. Was the first time we were all able to be with her on her Birthday so was special. And for her Birthday, Ike respected her 25 years and left her alone without any dammage. Thank's Ike.
