Monday morning, here are 3 pictures of what we could see from our 28Th floor room. Notice the Trolley in the above.
This is a Navy ship going down the Bay. Coronado Island is the home of a Navy Base.
An aircraft carrier that is now a tourist attraction. We didn't tour it as we did several years ago.
My Birthday was Monday so here I am eating a scrumptious breakfast.
This is the Hyatt.
Tommy trying to decide which Yacht he is going to buy.
Across the street from the Hyatt is Seaport Village on the Bay. A little village of shops and restaurants. On the left is the Bay.
This is a statue of a Sailor kissing a nurse when World War II was declared over.
For my Birthday lunch I wanted to go to the Valencia Hotel Restaurant in La Jolla. It is such a rest full and scenic view. We had a table by the window and this was the view.
This is the table and view. (Well I just deleted the picture of me and my delicious Fish Tacos and there is no way I am going to try and figure out how to get it back on here. The inconsistant spacing has just about driven me crazy. There has to be an easier way to blog than this.)
This is our room where we stayed Monday night thru Friday night. Rancho Bernardo Golf Resort. It is very important to stay where you can play golf!!! It is inland but close enough we could drive to the bay each night for dinner. So the best of both worlds, Golf and Bay dining.
The flowers that Tommy had sent to the room for when we arrived.
The Cheese and Fruit tray the front desk sent to us for Birthday and Anniversary. A bonus we were not expecting but enjoyed. Champagne also was sent with it but we told them we didn't drink so could we have Sierra Mist instead. I am sure that was a first for them and we probably gave them something to laugh and talk about. We also thought it was a bit amusing.
Tues morning breakfast on the veranda overlooking the golf course. We ate here every morning. Was about 65 to 68 degrees every morning but had overhead heaters and it was perfect.
Tuesday evening we went to Jake's Seafood Restaurant in Del Mar and had a beautiful view of the Ocean.
Sitting area on the veranda. We sat out here one morning after breakfast and checked emails and read the paper. Very relaxing.
I don't know what you call these plants but I only remember seeing them in small pots and here they are planted out and absolutely huge.
Lobby of the resort. Rustic decor and furnishings.
This is Peohe's on Coronado Island that we have been going to for several years when we are in this area. It has a Hawaiian theme and look and is one of the most unique restaurants we have ever been in. Has a winding walkway thru fish tanks, tropical flowers and boulders to get to your table and we always get a window table so we get to wind all thru the restaurant to get to the windows.
Outside of Peohe's.
Here is our delicious seafood. I had Mahi-Mahi on vegetables and oriental sauce. Tommy had Halibut topped with crab. I don't know where you can find better food with a better view. Forgot to take a picture of our desert, Creme Brulee with 2 candles. The waiter said they normally only put one candle on anniversary deserts but he thought anyone who had been married 48 years deserved 2 candles. Guess they don't witness to many long time marriages.
View from our table looking back at San Diego and the middle tower is the Hyatt that we stayed in on Sunday night.
We drove by this old hotel on the island and it has special meaning to me as my Dad was stationed on Coronado Island during WW II in the navy and Mom and Dad used to take me here when I was 2 to play on the grounds. There is no longer any places to play as most of the grounds are now parking lots. No, I don't remember but neat to know I lived there when I was 2 and now back to celebrate my 48Th Anniversary.
This is the fireplace on the veranda to prove that it was cool enough to have a fire in the mornings while all of you Texans was roasting without a fire.
Friday we decided to go to the mountains to the little town of Julian, the apple capitol of California. Between the Resort and Julian was dry and desert looking. When we got near Julian there was beautiful trees and then on the other side, which we didn't go on to, was the real desert. Interesting how fast the terrain can change.

We ate at this old cafe. They have the famous Apple Pie of the area and yes it was very good, so can say it is famous.
Sidewalk in front of Julian Cafe. The sign says it all.
Main street of Julian.
Saturday afternoon we had to come home. It was hard to leave the beauty and the cool but we sure had a COOL Birthday and Anniversary. Cool in several ways.
