Busy Celebration Weekend

Ethnie S. and Celeste S. are another 2 girls that have claimed us as their local grandparents and it has been a fun 20 years with them. Now one is nearly grown up and the other is grown up and we are really grown up. I think the correct term for us is Senior Citizens but I am sure that is really for those MUCH older than we are.

Friday night we helped Ethnie celebrate her 14th Birthday and here are some pictures.

All of us have been complaining about the cold weather so a Beach Birthday Cake seemed to be the proper thing to have to make us dream of warmer days ahead.

Mom gave her the perfect gift. Nice warm slippers. Cute, aren't they.

COOOOLD

This seems to be the preferred spot most days for evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We are not winter lovers, but true Southerner's so the cold and sometime freezing rain has not been appreciated at this house. Last Saturday we spent the day in front of the fireplace with one of us on the computer and the other reading.

We, ourselves, have no earth shattering or interesting news. But we can report that Lindsay heard from the American Society of Travel Agents Academic Scholorship Fund that she had been chosen for their scholorship this year. Tammy sent us a copy of the press release and I was going to post it but there was to much personal information on it to float around the internet. Also, Chloe got on the A Honor Roll again. Good going girls, we are all proud of you.

First 10 Days of 2009

From our house to yours, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!! We have started out with 10 good days in the new year. We celebrated New Years Eve at Charlie, Marcie, and Sophia's and had a great time from the Ping Pong to the delicious treats we were served. The following Saturday, we went to Tammy's for a Chili Supper and it was excellent. If you want a good Chili Recipe, Tammy has it. Tommy's niece, Sabrina and her little 1 year old daughter, Olivia, were spending the weekend with Tammy so she had all the local relatives over for a visit. Debbie and Garry, Kyle, Cheryl, and Clara joined us. It was a great evening. Then this past Thursday we went back to Tammy's and took BBQ Beef Sandwiches and watched the OU/Florida Bowl Game. I am very sorry to report that our team lost but we had fun in spite of OU letting us down.

Holiday Get-A-Way

Hope all of you had a great Christmas Holiday with lots of good times and good eats. We had a nice quiet time. At noon on Thursday, we ate the traditional Christmas fare at a restaurant, turkey, dressing and all the trimmings. Then we traveled 15 miles to Rockwall and stayed at the new Hilton on Lake Ray Hubbard. It was so nice and relaxing. The hotel was mostly empty so very quiet. The hotel is next door to an outdoor shopping and dinning center. We had a lake view room which was beautiful at night.
Reports from Georgia is that Greg and family had a good day and had lunch with some of their good friends there. We have talked to all 4 on Skype and able to see some of the kids Christmas treasures. We are so glad to have Skype so that we can see the kids several times a week and see things they want to show us. Last week I was talking to Garrett on the phone and he held the phone over one of his toys thinking that I could see it. I guess he thought he was Skyping it. Later I was able to view the remote controlled huge spider. Can you believe that his mother, who cannot stand the sight of the smallest bug, bought a spider that looks so real and crawls on the floor?
Tammy and family got back this afternoon from skiing at Santa Fe, New Mexico. Santa Fe has had an unusual amount of snow fall already this year so it was a great skiing experience along with the beauty that comes with snow.

Graduation Congratulations

Kyle, Tommy's nephew graduated last Saturday from UT Arlington with a Civil Engineering Degree. We are all very proud of him as he has worked very hard to get to this place. Congratulations also to his wife Cheryl as she was his greatest supporter along with little Clara May. The theme of the reception was "Superman" as that is what Cheryl thought best decribed him over the years of his college journey. He often worked 2 and 3 jobs along with all the things that go along with being in school and a husband and father. Congratulations to all of you.

Georgia Happenings

We have a new family member in GA, and she is quite loved in this home. If you believe in reincarnation, you want to come back as this family's pet.

Greg and Laura hosted a neighborhood dinner last weekend. These families take turns hosting a dinner cooked with recipes from Bon Appetit Magazine. The hostess cooks the main dish and the rest bring the side dishes including desert. Sounds interesting and looks like Laura did a great job on decorating the table and making the meat. Greg did a great job enjoying the fruits of labor.
